ARCHITECTURE TOUR: Did we learn something? YES! Have we learned it before? Likely! Did we forget it already? Natch! Will we go back on the tour? Obvs!
HOUSING: N Ridge Ave- the closest we’ve stayed to the beach. Half the group biked the 2 miles to the fields along the river with the wind in their hair. The other half paid for pricey Ubers and schlepped all the beers and belongings to the fields. ;) Pic 3, Amy told me “look like a local” so i grabbed an Amazon package and posed as naturally as I could.
FOOD/HANGS: We ate well - maybe minus the McDonalds each morning & the costco sized Folgiers coffee - but mostly we ate well. The standouts were 1. Sitting al fresco at Little Bad Wolf 2. Ghareeb Nawaz Post-play family style Indian take out (Thanks, Reed!) 3. Birthday binge at Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar (The baba ganoush, lobster cakes, artichoke hearts, scallops, duck, Nutella creme brûlée)
FRISBEE SATURDAY: Saturday was the perfect day! 1st round bye, amazing weather, 4 wins, 3 new friends, and lots of spirit! Beach first timer: Ian!!
FRISBEE SUNDAY: We had another day of 4 games. After playing and winning the first two, there was a lightning delay. Which is kinda my favorite, because that meant Club Mearle could open up for the 2nd year in a row. Club Mearle started off with Wagon Wheel, progressed into a cotton eye joe line dance, then we learned a new line dance from a friend.
Once the rain hit, so did the club songs. Highlight was Robyn “Dancin on my own”.
Games started back up at 1:30 and my god did it get windy. I don’t think we were ready for that type of focus after the midday club scene. That’s when we lost our first and only game. We came back strong in game 4 to take the W and the Spirit Award!
SPIRIT: Mearle stepped up their spirit this year with a spirit tasting menu and optional a la carte items. Sadie & Mearle followed by Sadie ball were the most popular options.
